52 Week Churn Dash Sewalong

Back in 2015 I joined a sewalong with an online quilt shop for 6.5 inch Churn Dash blocks.
I used fabric from my stash regardless of fabric designer or color.  I like "scrappy" so this will be fun.
Well, I did keep up each week making my one block.....and then they sat.  I didn't know what I wanted to do with them so again...they sat.  Then I saw a "nested" Churn Dash block and I knew that was what I wanted to do with them so I pulled a lot of fat quarters out, some nice Moda white and I made up 10......and then they sat.  I think you see a pattern here!

Last night I pulled the bin out and started looking at the blocks and fabric and decided that I'll start working on them over time........   I'll keep you posted!

2018 FQ Shop Designer Mystery BOM

I have not done a Designer Mystery in 2-3 years for one reason or another but when I saw 2018 was going to be using Fig Tree Ella & Ollie fabric I KNEW I had to join in.

So, on Friday hubby and I went out to lunch and came home to this.....

I was pretty darn excited!!!

I brought the box right in and ripped into it....

The Block is called "Daisy Crown" designed by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Co.

Backing is the green on the bottom in the top picture with the finishing kit and some free goodies.....
thread, flower head pins and a label for when it's finished.....

I cut it out and sewed it up this morning...a fairly easy block and I love how it looks!

Guess it's time to just set it aside and wait for block #2..........

Another project I'm working on in between other projects is called "Family Tree" by Sherri McConnell.   When I work on quilt blocks I cut the extra HST off and collect them in a basket.  This Family Tree quilt calls for 504 HST in a pretty big variety so I pulled my cut offs out and started sewing and trimming.  I had a little help too from a friend who had been hoarding some hst too but didn't know what to do with them so she mailed them to me.

I'm using Fig Tree fabrics for this one too with any low volume prints I have along with some Moda 60.  It's my Leader/Ender project for now until I have all 504 HST......

What do you do with your cut offs?

Have a wonderful Sunday.......
