"Berry Patch"

I came home Wednesday to my 2018 Designer Mystery BOM kit #2.........
This is Block #2 called "Berry Patch".  It was designed by Bonnie Olaveson of Cotton Way and Camille Roskelley of Thimbleblossoms.    Mother and daughter always design awesome blocks and the Fig Tree & Co fabric just pulls it all together!

I saw an Instagram post earlier this week about a scrap quilt that I thought I'd LOVE to have so I spent some time today looking thru my magazines in search of the quilt and don't you know.....the absolute last one I collected up had the pattern in it!  WHEW........
I am thinking this will be a perfect summer project don't you?

Moda Block Heads2

Are you doing the Moda Block Heads 2?    I did not do Block Heads 1, mainly because I don't remember seeing it being posted but I did follow along with some IG friends and just loved their blocks so I was sure to keep up with the Moda site this summer.......

I was away for a week but came home on Wednesday and caught up with block # 5 and Block # 6.

I am using my Bonnie & Camille scraps when I can but that Block #5 needed 8-1/2 inch squares for the corners and center so I had to cut into some larger pieces.
I do think that this Blockheads quilt will be an awesome sampler in the end.......
Here's a picture of the 6 blocks together on my design wall.

I like to put them up on the design wall so I can see what colors I need to add to the mix.....Looks like some greens pinks and yellows are needed.....

Moda Color Cuts "Dessert Sampler"

YES......I saw this project MONTHS ago and reserved a kit......

I could not help myself since the fabrics and colors were so pretty!

I saw everyone starting their kits but I decided that I needed to clean up a few other projects before I started......

I wasn't sure how to proceed so I started off cutting and making block #1

Then I cut out block #2

And I realized after cutting block # 2 that this quilt will be pieced in sections and section 1 did not include block #1......which is fine.  I'll just make #2 and move on, assemble this section and then move on to section 2.  Block 1 will go wherever it is called for.

So, now that I have some of the hst trimmed and sewn, I'll try and get that finished today but then I need to put this all aside for an impromptu trip to Florida to see my mother with my 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters.  Mom was 91 last Sunday but we couldn't get down till this Saturday....which is fine.  Mom likes her company spread out.

Hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July....
We celebrated my son's 33rd birthday with a fun cake, homemade pretzels, hot dogs, hamburgers etc. and they even watched a hot dog eating contest, the Yankee game, a movie.....etc.  Fun Fun Fun
