"Use What You've Got".....something I'm going to try to do more of this year.
We started a tradition about 10 years ago, we go out to eat and to the movies. Our kids were old enough at that point to go out with their friends which meant neither hubby or I had to do any taxi service. This year we opted not to make a reservation and just make it easy on ourselves and grab burgers and fries at FIVE GUYS and then head off to see "Big Eyes". The burgers were awesome as expected and the movie was predictable and cute.....I'd read up on it so I knew what the outcome was so no surprises.....
My sewing machine is clean, it has a new needle, fresh spool of thread, loaded bobbins and my cutting table is cleaned off and ready to get working.
I'm going to spend this morning making a big pot of spaghetti sauce for the family and then this afternoon I'll get to the Bonnie Hunter Mystery. Bonnie posted the reveal at midnight which thrilled me because I've been curious since day 1 as to what it would look like.
After the mystery is done I'm going to start 2015 off with working on a UFO. I don't even remember when I started working on this one because I have no record of it either on my blog or Instagram but I know I started it this year because I've been looking at this pile for a while....
It's the makings of "Lucy" by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. I had seen another blogger's version and loved it so I gathered up what Halloween fabric I had on hand and started cutting and sewing.
This quilt takes 61 25 patch units 6-3/4 X 6-3/4 and 60 snowball blocks 6-3/4 X 6-3/4.
I've never made a halloween quilt but I thought it was about time to do one. I have no idea what came up that caused me to set all of this aside but 2015 will be the year I get to working on it and finish it off.
Do you start the year off with a new or old project? Since I'm going to try and use the "Use What You've Got" motto, I'm starting with an old one and then I'll allow myself something new......A nice balance!

Happy New Year Peggy! I like your idea of new needle, thread, clean mat, etc. I've been doing some year end house & paper cleaning up .Hoping to get to my sewing room later. Like the Halloween quilt ! I've never made one either~
Happy New Year Peggy! Love the way you have cleaned your machine and are ready to go! I have a few UFOs that need attention, so I might start the year with them too!
Your quilt looks interesting.... but was wondering about the unusual size of 6 3/4. Is this the finished size or the unfinished size? Just wondering.
