FINALLY..........

I finally finished this quilt today........

The blocks in this sampler quilt were made by Robin, Michelle and I last year.

I set them and put the side borders on at least 6 months ago. I made the decision the other night that I was going to have it finished and quilted before Thanksgiving. I totally forgot I didn't have the top and bottom borders on and when I went for the fabric I realized I didn't have any kona black left, which is why I probably never finished. So, I went and got the kona, got the backing fabric, put the borders on, pieced the back and voile...it's done!!! This picture isn't very good so you can't really tell that the fabrics are all 30's. Once it's quilted I'll show another picture up close of a few of the blocks.
So, did anyone see any snow today? I didn't but parts of New Jersey did have snow.....

A Good Mail Day

I had a banner mail day......actually, it was 2 banner days. I received these 2 cute candy corn hot pads from Robin the other day but couldn't blog about them because Michelle's birthday package went MIA with her cornies in it so I had to wait.

Then today, I'm sitting here all bummed out 'cause I haven't gotten mail in a few days and when I got up to go to the kitchen I saw the UPS man out front pulling away. Now, they always ring the doorbell and I know mine didn't ring so I didn't think I had anything.... WRONG!!!I'd ordered one of Deb's Witchee Annies from CucaDeb's blog.....isn't she cute?
And I also got a book from Amazon that I ordered on Sunday and 2 of my Thimbleberries kits...
I'm a happy camper tonight. The Pint Size Traditions kit is called NORTHERN LIGHTS, using a lot of great new fabrics. My Room by Room kit is Lynette's Sangria Splash runner using her new fall line... NICEY!!!
The book at the left is called "Seams to Me" by Anna Maria Horner. It's not really a quilting book, it's 24 assorted sewing projects from a doggie bed to an apron to a baby ball play toy.
It's a really nice book and Anna Maria uses a lot of her own fabrics so all the projects are super cute!

Patchwork Party

I had such an urge today to finish the last 2 blocks for the Patchwork Party so I did them....whew, they were not the easiest but they are done and I'm one happy camper.

I now have 12 very nice blocks that have to be set......

I just looked at the finishing kit that Sunshine Carousel Quilt Shop sent me......what the heck was I thinking? LOL
I still have to make 13 courthouse steps and a gazillion geese....If I make the quilt as directed, the darn thing ends up being 95-1/2 X 105-1/2.
I'm seriously questioning whether I need a quilt that large......I'm thinking I could probably make 2 quilts out of this fabric.....
Is anyone else doing the Patchwork Party and what are you doing about the finishing kit?

YAY....I'm caught up

I'm all caught up on my 2008 Thimbleberries Block of the Month. This is what it is going to look like when it's done.
I did it in the Lodge colorway which I like but having seen a lot of the Lakeside colorway, I was wishing I'd done it that way but 10 months into it it's a little late to be even thinking about it.

I have all the 20-1/2 in big blocks done, the smaller trees and most of the borders cut according to the monthly instructions. I will have to make the connector pieces I'm guessing with the November instructions and then get the final border cutting instructions.

Here's what I have so far:

Is anyone else doing this block of the month? I'd really like to see your tops when you get them assembled!!!
Now to move onto another project....

Rise and Shine

Rise and Shine everyone...it's a gorgeous 32 degree day in New Jersey!!
I think it's a perfect day to sew....well, at least it is for me :)
Hubby left for the Giant's game so I'll be here alone with 2 piles of laundry and well, I can't say how many piles of fabric LOL Lets just say it's an obscene amount.
I'm going to catch up with the September and October parts of teh 2008 Thimbleberries BOM and then who knows what. I will however, post some pictures once I do get to sewing....
Off to dress, make another cup of tea and then load the washer and turn on the iron.....my brandy new ROWENTA that Robin turned me onto, which irons like a jem!!! I don't know how I ironed all these years without it!

Gotta Love Your Kids

I came back to my desk today at work after lunch and found a box sitting there. All the girls in work were all saying "oooh....lookie what Al sent you"...OK, so it was a florist FTD box and tomorrow is our 28th wedding anniversary, but I knew he'd send flowers from a local florist so I figured it was from the kids maybe...... When I saw sunflowers I knew for sure it was from Jen, Dan and Sarah. Thanks guys..you done good!!!
Oh, and notice that wonderful tablerunner....I got that bad boy in a one on one swap 2 years ago from Michelle I look forward to the fall so I can put that out on my dining room table.....Thanks again Michelle....
So, what's everyone doing this weekend?
Hubby and I are going to NYC to see "Jersey Boys" and then find someplace nice for dinner.
Hopefully I remember my camera and I can take pictures of the sites to show you......
Have a nice weekend everyone!!

Another Finished Project

In 2007, I joined a Banner of the Month club from This-n-That Fabrics. Each month for one year, I received a pattern and all the fabrics to complete a seasonal banner. I have quite a few done but while decorating today I realized I didn't have the October one done so I stopped doing Christmas stuff and pulled out the kit for the punkin wall hanging. I LOVE how it turned out. I have a very narrow wall in my kitchen that it hangs on.

I also went to the garden center today and bought some mumms that I put out on the front steps. I'm not into gardening so it had to be just pots set on the steps and call it a day.... Here's a picture of my front porch with the mumms and my little scarecrows.

So, who's off for Veteran's Day tomorrow???

I am, I am!!!!! I'm hoping to get qute a few small projects out of the way....Only downside to tomorrow is no mail.... Oh well, we'll have to wait for Tuesday for packages....

Fall into Fall Giveaway

Have you girls been following the Fall into Fall Giveaway?
Here's the link to it:
OMG, there is a list on the above site. All you have to do is click on each site and enter to win. Time's running out so you best get on over and enter.......Here's one I particularly like:

I'm on a Roll

I'm on a roll here with starting Christmas gifts. I showed you on a previous post a fall tablerunner that I made which was so much fun to make and turned out super cute. Well, I pulled out some Christmas fabric and cut out 2 more. I just finished the 2 and am going to make a few more since I have a few special people in mind that I could make these for and cross them right off my Christmas list now..... The center and border fabric is green, gold, and red christmas balls. The tan fabric is a tan on tan reindeer, the red has gold dots on it and the gold is a gold on gold floral. I sure hope the girls like these....
On another note, I have been checking out all the blogs and I am in love with all those little baskets everyone is making. I have a really cute piece of halloweenie fabric that I could use so I might just have to pull out those directions and see how difficult/easy it is to make myself one.

What are your thoughts?

So, last night we were talking about the birthday block of the month swap that we do with one of our internet groups and I mentioned to Robin and Michelle that I had blocks here but not enough to do anything large with. These blocks here are 9 inchers. In order to even make a decent full size top I need maybe another 9....
There are no siggys on the back of the blocks and they werent' in a ziploc bag so heaven only knows where they came from.....

Since there are normally 12 of us in the birthday swap I could ask for this block and then I'd have plenty to set into a top. Now, what I need is the name of the block or a link to directions to make it. Anyone out there in quilter's blog land that knows the name of this 9 inch block?

Oh My Stars

I decided today that I better get moving on the next set of stars that I need for an online swap due at the end of the month. 11 girls each making 2 sets of 11 blocks.

Of course, I picked nice blocks, but they are both paper pieced and man oh man are there a lot of units to them.....

Here's block #2.... All the blocks are in the colorway of turquoise, teal, brown and cream. I blogged about my first set about a week ago... I'm looking forward to seeing what I get back in the swap...You know I'll blog about them when I get them.

Gobble Gobble

I was going to start this post by saying "YAY...I started and finished a holiday project early", but in all truthfulness, I have to say that I started this project last November...after Thanksgiving!!!

Now, you might say "what the heck took this girl so long?" and all I can say is it's like hemming a skirt you just spent hours making...I hate the finishing parts. All I had to do is stuff this guy and he was done but I just kept putting it off....

Anyhoo...it's done and ready for this Thanksgiving... Now, if I could finish some holiday projects I started last year I'd be in heaven... So many projects, so few hours to work on them.
