"Kaleidoscope"

I had no trouble this month picking some fabric for our "AYOS" project.   It was a free pattern with a tutorial at My Rainboots Are Red.  I'd never made a Kaleidoscope quilt block let alone a whole quilt so I was excited to be making this project.

I knew I wanted red so I could use it for Valentine's Day (If I'm decorating at the time  PS: doing a kitchen remodel)  so I went ahead and printed off 25 of the paper pieced patterns and got to sewing.
I got 9 done and then somehow my mind strayed and I got nothing else done.....  I know, it's sad, but I get easily distracted by new projects :)

I started out thinking I'd just do some straight lines..............

BUT, in the end, I put the walking foot on the machine and I decided it needed a circular design.
Now, don't go looking real close at my quilting.  I'm a "straight line kinda gal" but when I get something in my mind that I want to try, I go for it and hope it looks ok in the end.

Here's a picture of the back....I figured I could use a cute strawberry print and flip it over for the spring....double duty!

It finished up to be 12-3/4 X 12-3/4 so I  think the little heart candy dish that I have with some chocolates in it will look nice on top of this on the kitchen island for now......
I'm going to go grab something from the scrap bin for the binding and get it on now so I can tack it down tonight while I watch TV......

I can't wait to see what Sinta at Pink Pincushion Blog has in store for us for February.
