Nothing fancy mom!!!

Those are the words my youngest daughter said when she asked me to make her 2 pillowcases for her dorm pillow...NOTHING FANCY! So, yesterday we went to the quilt shop and she picked out a black and white stripe and as an accent she wanted lime green.
Her duvet cover is black and white polka dots.. She went one direction and I went the other. I found really nice fabrics but they all got thumbs down.... As we were giving up she found the Halloween area and there it was...the perfect lime green!! AND, to have skulls on it, well, what could be more perfect?
She didn't want any accents on either, just a plain ole, plain ole pillowcase....and that's exactly what she is getting.......

Hi Peggy, Thanks for stopping in on my blog. Yes those Penn State students are pouring back into town. Traffic is picking up and I can no longer make left hand turns anywhere! Is it hard to drop your daughter off or are you used to it?

Love the pillowcase. My daughter is only 6, yet she is quickly developing her own taste and I am starting to get a few eye rolls for my suggestions.

As far as local shops, if you are over 25, the pickin's are slim. Downtown has a few shops on Allen Street and a couple on Beaver Ave. There is a art and craft shop on Beaver Ave. called the Artisan Connection. Unfortunately, they no longer carry my work. Allen Street has Eddie Bauer and a handful of gifty type stores. And if you're looking for Penn State gear, you can't shake a stick without beating a few Penn State sweatshirts. Most of the Ladies' clothing shops have gone out of business over the past 10 or so years. There is still one interesting store on College Ave (eastern end) called Mr. Charles. All of these are in easy walking distance of campus.

Have a great trip!
