I will start with an almost finish....I have the 2008 Thimbleberries on my 2009 Challenge list and have been working on it for the last 3 days. Well, I think it looks nice just the way it is but in looking at the instructions, it is calling for another 81/2 in black border all the way around. As it is, it's already 77 x 92 which is a good size quilt . Adding more to it will make it HUGE and I don't know that I need another queen size quilt.
What are your thoughts on the size it is and the way it looks now???
And for my good mail day, I received the kit pictured below from Epicurian Crafts in today's mail. I'd stumbled across Jennifer at Sweet Liberty Grace
a couple of weeks ago and admired a quilt she had on her blog and it's been on my mind so the other day I wrote Jennifer and she hooked me up with Epicurian Crafts and so I called Monday morning and voile, it showed up in my mailbox today. I am so excited to have it in my hot little hands... Lookit the colors of the wool, they're gorgeous!!!

I may have to go grab my freezer paper and start tracing tonight :)
I think with all the wool for the blocks, the pile of black wool behind the colored wool and the pattern that if I did it as a BOM that it would have been about $13.50 a month...not bad all things considered!
Don't forget, the Whirl Into Winter Giveaway is underway....just leave a comment on my 12/31 post for a chance to win some nice prizes!

Can't wait to see your wool applique quilt! Keep us posted with progress pics!
LOVE that summertime pattern behind the wools. I've just become acquainted with wools and love them. As for the Thimbleberries quilt...I think you should put the black border on it and THEN (since it will be another big quilt and you don't need another big quilt), you should send it to ME!!! hehehehe (Bet you didn't see THAT coming, did you?) Gotta love humor by a (former) Jersey girl, right? :) Seriously, I do think the quilt is fine the way it is, but some designers like to "stop the eye" with one last dark border...you know how that is. So...if you like it this way, then LEAVE it this way. It is beautiful!
I love your quilt Peg. I think it looks just fine the way it is.
Hey Peggy, if you like it, then it's done! How's that for keeping it simple? I agree with, you by the way, it doesn't need anything more, especially not something wide (8-1/2 is a large border) and dark.
One comment about the wook kit -- it looks hard! Hey, if you can do this, you can do "All Roads Lead to the Sea"! Brace yourself, The Other Barb and I are getting back into that next week.
Did I tell you in previous comments how much I love that quilt? I am almost to the point of being covetiness (if I spelt that right).
I think your quilt looks great as as! I'm hard at work on my UFO challenges, too. I finished hand-quilting a mini last night. Now, I just have to find the binding fabric. Why wouldn't I have left it with the project?
I love your TB quilt top! I, too, have been thinking of making my quilt a little smaller, so will be awaiting your final decision!
